The Pet Economy Brought About By Owners' Love

BEI JING, CHINA : End of Januarythis year, a Chinese pet mortician Tao Taorecorded his work routine through inthe form of vlogs, which were posted on the Tiktok, pushingpromotingthe pet funeral industry to the public through the Internet.

 

This profession is evaluated by many netizens as "sacred" and "meaningful". There are also many netizens who say they want to become apet morticians.

Although pet funerals have created some buzz on the Internet, the industry is still not well recognized.

Respondent Gao Yu Xin, who has a small fish as a pet, said he had never heard of pet funerals.

Currently, services related to pet funeral are more common, such as body cleaning, funeral ceremony, cremation, making ashes souvenirs, etc.

After a little understanding, Yu Xin said she found it very novel, but also very meaningful ,"to accompany their own pet for a long time, give it a ritual to leave, another form of companionship, in fact, is to pay for their own emotions".

23-year-old cat owner Han Han also expressed a strong willingness to hold a funeral for her pet, hoping it was a decent departure.

Pet’s Hospice- The Real Demand

In the last two years, emerging services around pets have started to emerge. Pet funerals have followed suit.

Xiao Huang is a garment worker and he used to have two dogs.

"When my puppy died, it was put in a box and floated away in the river and sent back to nature," said Xiao Huang whose little French bucket has been dead for two years, when there was no pet funeral to speak of.

The words "pampering" and "memorial" have become important keywords for the pet funeral industry to export to potential consumers. The interest chain of pet economy also allows businesses to harvest wealth codes under the banner of love.

Although there have been many pet funeral services, but the industry is still immature, the pet funeral industry is still not transparent consumption, informal services and other issues. there is no relevant laws and regulations to ensure the rights and interests of consumers. The pet funeral industry is still in a gray area.
